Acolytes, or "servers," have assisted in worship since the days of the early church. At Kingston Parish, the youth of the parish fulfill the vital duties of torchbearer or acolyte, and in this way have the opportunity to participate in the church service. The torchbearers carry the torch in the processional and recessional. When they become more experienced, they may serve as acolytes and assist the priest in the worship service.
